The Role:

Cognizant is looking for an experienced and innovative Lead Java Engineer with 15-19 years of experience to serve our diverse base of global clients. As a member of our team, you will build cutting edge, cloud-based software that powers modern business. Location: Hartford, Connecticut

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and implementation of complex software applications using Java
• ensuring they meet the dynamic needs of the Life and Annuities Insurance sector
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features that enhance user experience and business value
• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications by conducting thorough code reviews and optimizing software processes
• Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and support to foster a culture of technical excellence and innovation
• Stay abreast of the latest technology trends and best practices in software development, particularly in Java and insurance domain-specific technologies
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the development team, encouraging experimentation and the adoption of agile methodologies
• Analyze and integrate third-party products and APIs to enhance application capabilities and performance
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements specific to the insurance sector
• Participate in strategic planning sessions with senior management to align technology solutions with business goals
• Facilitate effective communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of project objectives and progress
• Manage project timelines and deliverables, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and budget constraints

Required Skills:

• 15 - 19 yrs of relevant experience
• Proven expertise in Java development, with a strong portfolio of successful projects
• In-depth knowledge of the Life and Annuities Insurance domain, with a clear understanding of industry challenges and opportunities
• Experience with agile development methodologies and tools
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a track record of leading
