Reporting to the Manager, Office of Development, the Development Specialist (Children's Hospital Fundraising Manager) plans, organizes and executes the annual fundraising programs and other stewardship and cultivation activities for Yale New Haven Children?s Hospital, including all logistical details associated with Gift In Kind activity, third party fundraisers and key donor groups.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Support and grow the fundraising programs and activity of YNH Children?s Hospital and its satellite campus at Bridgeport Hospital. This includes the management of all logistics, relationships, and solicitation.
  • 2. Provide a highly personalized level of customer service to a portfolio of 75-100 donors/partners, and support/lead relationships with grateful patient families and the clinical staff involved.
  • 3. Serve as the main point of contact for in-kind donors and key donor groups including the Friends of YNHCH and 3rd party fundraising organizations.
  • 4. Proactively take on new responsibilities as they arise.
  • 5. Connect donors/partners to the YNHCH mission through presentations, hospital tours, patient stories, volunteer opportunities, sponsor visits, phone calls, letters etc.
  • 6. Will also serve as a point person for annual programs/events and various projects such as the development and cultivation of in-kind donors or administrative and relationship support of third party fundraisers.
  • 7. Work in tandem with the Major Gifts Officer, YNHCH, to support the activation and stewardship of largest corporate partners/grants.
  • 8. Attend and provide updates at biweekly meetings with Clinical Leadership as requested.
  • 9. Foster and maintain key community relationships in support of YNHCH.
  • 10. Maintain data integrity in Raiser?s Edge by routinely entering contact notes, updating proposals, and proactively managing relationships.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Bachelor?s degree required

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of (3-5) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Superior communication skills with an emphasis on writing and editing. Excellent attention to detail, creative and innovative thinking and ability to manage several tasks simultaneously. Excels in organization. Strong critical thinking skills. A track record of building strong interpersonal relationships. Willingness to be proactive and the enthusiasm to pursue new opportunities. The ability to effectively work as part of a team and to follow approved procedures and policies.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

The Development Specialist must be able to attend meetings and events, which are occasionally held during evening hours and on weekends.
