ATI produces and markets a wide range of specialty metal alloys, including titanium, nickel, and steel forgings to end use markets such as aerospace, energy, oil & gas, and general industrial markets. We have several operating facilities and deliver products to customers globally. The primary responsibilities of this position will include full accountability for the design, implementation, and ongoing production of shot-peen processes at ATI East Hartford.

Essential Functions

  • Develop full process design from customer requirements including almen strip placement, almen fixture design, design of part holding fixtures, with development of saturation curves and part coverage per industry standard specifications.
  • To develop processes for flight-safety aerospace components using computer-controlled machines (air blast with capability for nozzle and lance peening).
  • Ensure the process complies to general shot peen specifications as well as customer specific flight-safety requirements.
  • Responsibilities include the generation of process documentation for the production floor using CAD software, creation of Flight safety plan documentation for submittal to the customer, and Audit support to maintain Nadcap accreditation.
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or 4+ years of experience working as an Engineer in a Manufacturing Environment
  • 5+ years of experience in process engineering of the shot peening of aerospace parts.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of Sikorsky shot peen requirements
  • Knowledge of Pratt and Whitney requirements
  • Knowledge of Nadcap requirements

Essential skills

  • Skilled in almen strip placement

  • Ability to develop saturation curves for part coverage per industry standards specifications
  • Ability to process flight safety aerospace components using computer - controlled machines
