Project Engineer
Primary objective of leading the implementation of capital projects in all plants. This person must be organized and effective at maintaining project objectives and schedule across multiple disciplines and with multiple stake holders. Secondary objective of developing engineering standards and project management tools to be used across the organization.
Responsibilities
  • Completes engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements.
  • Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans and conferring with management.
  • Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements, assigning personnel to phases and elements, and reviewing bids from contractors.
  • Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, performance standards, codes, and company quality and safety requirements.
  • Completes technical studies and prepares cost estimates.
  • Confirms product/project performance by designing and conducting tests.
  • Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements.
  • Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.
  • Controls project costs by approving expenditures and administering contractor contracts.
  • Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Cooperates and communicates effectively with plant management and, project participants and other stakeholders to provide assistance and technical support.
  • Provides ongoing support to plant personnel in project area or other areas of expertise.
  • Leads technical projects or process improvements in plants as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical) from an accredited university or college.
  • Relevant experience in Food and Beverage Engineering/Manufacturing.
  • Ability to travel up to 90% of the time.
  • Extensive knowledge of project management tools (FAT, commissioning, qualification and verification, induced failure testing, FMECA, etc)
  • Knowledge of design and scheduling software (AutoCAD, MS Project)
  • Working knowledge of food safety, industrial safety, and environmental regulations
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills.
  • Controls experience, especially in Allen Bradley preferred.
  • Water processing and filtration experience preferred.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks within a Matrix environment.
