Maxar is looking to add a Data Modeler / Data Scientist to our team to support a customer who has a fast-paced and exciting mission within the Intelligence Community. This position will support the design and execution of scalable, repeatable, documented large data analytics to make sense of vast amounts of spatial-temporal event data for a government customer's technical mission.

Project:

The Data Modeler / Data Scientist will work independently and as part of a cross-functional team comprised of technical experts supporting an established and growing Intelligence Community (IC) mission. You will need to quickly understand complex technical concepts, make assessments, and articulate your recommendations to the customer. Previous experience working on-site to support the Department of Defense (DoD)and the Intelligence Community is highly desirable.

Day-to-Day with your Colleagues:

The Data Modeler / Data Scientist will work hand-in-hand with the analytics team to design and build algorithms that depict spatial-temporal statistics and patterns in data. They will also highlight gaps and issues with data collection where it is not providing value to the mission. The Data Modeler / Data Scientist will build automation into data flows to clean, enrich, analyze, and display massive multi-source observation data to provide actionable insights for decision makers to answer questions at a pace and scale that provides intrinsic value in the operational decision cycle. The Data Modeler / Data Scientist will be asked to provide technical expertise to support a variety of tasks to include, but not limited to:

• Stand up and configure data science environments.
• Work in both relational databases and non-relational databases.
• Understand spatial-temporal data type specifics across different software applications/databases and data providers and how to build automation to harmonize these data so that they can be analyzed in totality using time and space as common dimensions to all.
• Work across security classification domains to process and provide data at appropriate levels.
• Work directly with third-party data vendors and systems.
• Work with agency-approved software where available and make recommendations to use alternatives (and assist in the approval process) if deemed more productive and cost-effective than existing solutions.
• Free-up/force-multiply the analytic team from wrangling billions/10x/100x billions of records to millions or less that are off-the-shelf (from you) harmonized with other data sets at a minimum with space-time and expanded space-time fields.
• Work across the community through resources like R-Space, tech exchanges, conferences, etc. to advance customer capability and capacity in this analytic space.
