Are you interested in applying your physics and engineering skills to solve real-world problems in space applications?

Are you seeking to make critical contributions to important problems facing our nation in space defense and space science?

Are you an engineer, physicist, mathematician, or computer scientist skilled in modeling, simulation and analysis for space applications?

If so, we are looking for someone like you to join our group at APL. We are a diverse, collaborative group of scientists and engineers who develop and analyze mission concepts and space-based architectures, develop algorithms for analysis of space-based remote sensing data, and do physics-based modeling and simulation for National Security Space as well as NASA applications.

As a modeling & simulation scientist or engineer you will . . .

  • Perform modeling studies of space-based remote sensing constellations and systems
  • Contribute to the development and assessment of new space systems
  • Apply your technical expertise and creativity to develop and implement new modeling and analysis tools as needed
  • Develop presentations to effectively community technical results to your team, APL leadership, and government sponsors
  • Work in a collaborative team environment and contribute to our dynamic group culture by pursuing innovative, cross-disciplinary ideas that contribute to the critical challenges facing our nation in space


Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you . . .

  • Have a BS in Physics, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Have experience related to modeling, simulation, or performance analysis of space systems and constellations, or physics-based modeling for space applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to excel in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills, with the capability to effectively communicate complex techical information.
  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. To ensure the safety and well-being of the community, APL has established a policy requiring that all staff be vaccinated against COVID-19.   • Are able to obtain a TS/SCI level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You 'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you have . . .

  • A MS or PhD in Physics, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Experience with STK or similar modeling tools.
  • An active TS/SCI clearance.
